the Job

Diesel Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of diesel equipment used in aggregate production, including engines, hydraulics, electronics, Tier 4 systems, and fuel systems. The ideal candidate will have strong diesel engine mechanics knowledge and be able to diagnose and repair a wide range of equipment and problems.

What You’ll Do
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines and related equipment, including air and cooling systems, oil analysis.
  • Troubleshoot fuel systems, performing diagnostic tests with manufacturer software.
  • Test and adjust hydraulic and hydrostatic systems.
  • Disassemble and assemble fuel pumps and lines.
  • Properly troubleshoot Tier 4 systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problems.
  • Inspect equipment for safety and compliance.
  • Keep up-to-date on latest diesel equipment technology.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Follow all safety procedures and regulations.
Other Requirements
  • Willing to travel to all locations within the geographic area.
  • Willing to work overtime and extended hours as required; able to work outside in all weather conditions and tolerate loud noise.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Skills You'll Need

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional vocational or trade school training in a mechanical field preferred.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of engines, hydraulics, electronics, Tier 4 systems, and fuel systems.
  • Understanding of basic electrical, powertrain, and hydraulic concepts; moderate use of CAT SIS and Vulcan EMS processes.
  • Previous experience with CAT SIS or ET programs highly desired.
  • Experience servicing heavy construction equipment, preferably with aggregate equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Service heavy construction equipment principles (preferred).
  • Knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
  • Willingness to work overtime, extended hours, and outside in all weather.
