Overview
TEKsystems is seeking motivated Cable Technicians with a minimum of one year of hands-on experience who are ready to grow into broader commercial low-voltage work. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong foundation in cabling (Cat5e/Cat6) who want to expand into security, CCTV, access control, and A/V system installation.
Responsibilities- Install, terminate, label, and test Cat5e/Cat6 cabling in commercial environments.
- Assist with installation and programming of CCTV, access control, security systems, and A/V equipment.
- Read and interpret basic blueprints, wiring diagrams, and job layouts.
- Troubleshoot cabling and connectivity issues.
- Ensure all work complies with local and national low voltage/electrical codes.
- Work collaboratively with senior technicians and project teams to meet deadlines.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, materials used, and time tracking.
- Provide professional, customer-focused service on every job site.
- Minimum 1 year of cable technician experience (commercial experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of cabling standards, pathways, and best practices.
- Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams and basic schematics.
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications are a plus.
- Cat6 termination and testing
- Cable pulling, routing, and pathway installation
- CCTV installation
- Access control hardware
- Basic alarm/security system knowledge

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
