Job Description

The Maintenance Engineer assists with the operation, maintenance, service and repair of assigned equipment. They participate in the preventative maintenance program, handle guest requests and other work orders, perform trade jobs such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, etc., and may be required to drive the hotel van when necessary.

• Experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Licensed in a trade preferred (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.).
• Valid driver’s license for the applicable state required.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required.
• One year of college or technical school credit, or 3–6 months of subject‑related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of study and experience.
• Basic knowledge/experience in carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repair, painting, and HVAC systems preferred.
• Shows accuracy and meticulousness; monitors own work to ensure quality and applies feedback for improvement.
• Shows flexibility in response to change and adapts to new methods and procedures.
• Knowledge of safety management principles and federal and state OSHA regulations.

• Assist with the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Change out light bulbs and perform preventive maintenance for guest rooms (vinyl repair, touch‑up paint, minor furniture repair, tub caulking, tile repairs, etc.).
• Perform preventive maintenance for ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC, guestrooms, meeting rooms, the swimming pool and hot tub.
• Repair plumbing, laundry equipment and preventive maintenance on all exhaust fans and supplies; monitor energy conservation; repair vacuum cleaners and any other small equipment upon request.
• Immediately follow up on any alarms to determine location and cause, assess emergency status, and notify the Front Desk.
• Access back‑of‑house areas of the hotel and handle sensitive information responsibly.
• Interact with guests and colleagues, maintaining a high level of trust and responsibility.
• Drive safely on behalf of the company for business reasons and represent the company with professionalism and sound judgement.
• Perform other tasks/jobs as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
