** Overview
* * Electronic & Instrumentation Technicians are responsible for maintaining the electronic and control equipment at MPC and MPLX owned light products and asphalt terminals. E&I Technicians provide the expertise to install, repair, replace, maintain, and perform preventive maintenance on terminal equipment that is beyond what terminal operations personnel capabilities. Typical equipment that is maintained by E&I techs includes:
Terminal Control Systems, network hardware, electronic presets, tank gauging and high-level alarm systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), card readers, touch screens, and more. Changes in assigned terminals/coverage areas do occur at times for training purposes as well as to balance workload with other E&I Technicians.
This position is within the Terminals organization and will be based in
** Nashville, TN

** Key Responsibilities
** 1. Inspect and apply operating and performance tests to light product and asphalt terminal electronic and electrical system components to determine causes of malfunctions and operating deficiencies. Through these inspections and tests they determine the extent and feasibility of repairs and recommend replacement or retention of such components on the basis of cost, reliability, and safety considerations.
2. Install and/or set up process control PCs, software applications, cabling, electronic presets, and other electronic and electrical components and equipment. In addition, they work with project leaders to provide input pertaining to new and replacement installations.
3. Repair and maintain electronic and electrical components through disassembly and reconditioning or replacing components. Make repairs on equipment to the board level and sometimes the component level. Make repairs by soldering components and also fabricate cables needed to complete the repairs. Test and adjust components for proper operations.
4. Schedule and perform periodic and preventative maintenance inspections, and testing of electronic and electrical components through visual inspection, reference to technical manuals, drawings, and use of testing equipment. Determine what regular and special maintenance procedures need to be performed, parts requiring replacement, and necessary precautions to keep electronic and electrical components in proper operating condition.
5. Maintain service records and equipment files through a maintenance management system; using Mobility and PC based system to update work orders, purchase materials, report maintenance issues, and track equipment history.
6. Recommend the purchase of superior quality makes, models or types of electronic and electrical components, parts, materials, supplies and repair services best suited to MPC needs.
7. Purchase or request stocks of spare parts, supplies and materials.
8. Work with and assist in directing other workers, both company and contract. Assist Project Leaders on contract projects to inspect work performed for compliance with plans, drawings, and specifications.
9. Assist with PLC installing and troubleshooting, including programming and logic changes.
10. Provide after hours support as required for Terminal Operations. 11. Provide training to adjacent groups and customers on supported equipment.

* EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
*** High school diploma or GED required.
* 2 years in a related field preferred
* Terminal operations, trade electrician, degrees or experience in the field of electrical, electronic, IT Infrastructure or PLC programming preferred.
* Intermediate knowledge of Windows-based PCs and smartphone technology is required.
* Willingness to travel up to 50%
