Employee will be required to successfully complete the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) course for NCIC, TCIC and TIES Basic Certification, and State-approved Basic Telecommunicators course within six months of employment.
The MNAA selection process can be lengthy and may last up to three months. Applications are reviewed in their entirety. Candidates whose qualifications best meet MNAA’s needs will be contacted to participate in the interview process. Eligible candidates will be placed on an eligibility list; the Human Resources Department will contact the selected candidate and notify others accordingly. Candidates not selected may reapply as positions become available.
If offered employment and disqualified during background investigation, reapplication is not permitted until all requirements are met.
Employment with MNAA is contingent upon the ability to obtain a TSA security badge. An investigation will be conducted into statements contained in the application, including references, employment history (last ten years), education/training, and military service. A conditional offer may be contingent upon successful completion of job-related testing, medical examination (including drug screen and breath alcohol test), vision, audiogram, background check, and motor vehicle record check.
For Public Safety sworn positions and Public Safety Dispatchers, a psychological examination may be required.
Job Summary: The Public Safety Dispatcher performs dispatch functions for Airport Police and Fire, airport surveillance, monitors access control systems, receives calls, queries criminal databases, and conducts day-to-day administrative tasks in the Nashville International Airport's 24-hour Airport Communications Center.
- Monitors all radio traffic.
- Uses NCIC and ARMS to determine vehicle registration, criminal history, warrants, stolen property, gun files, and emergency notifications.
- Dispatches personnel to investigate complaints, security infractions, and emergencies.
- Obtains complete information from callers to write call summaries.
- Assists with on-the-job training for new employees.
- Monitors fire alarm panels, security infractions, severe weather, fuel issues, access control, and other systems.
- Evaluates and classifies initial calls and notifies pertinent personnel as needed.
- Maintains communication with field units, local emergency and law enforcement, airport personnel, and ATC.
- Gives assignments and directions following established procedures.
- Dispatches ARFF units to incidents and saves video footage as required.
- Uses CCTV, PA, TDD, and instant replay devices.
- Maintains a daily log via CAD software.
- Keeps up to date with policy, methods, operations and equipment needs.
- Disseminates information via Automated Emergency Notification System.
- Activates emergency recall plan when required.
- Disseminates severe weather information to airport tenants.
- Informs personnel of maintenance problems and conditions.
