Senior Account Executive, State & Local Government

Join Better Up as a senior account executive focused on state and local government. We’re looking for high‑energy, enterprise sales professionals with deep government knowledge, a passion for helping others realize their full potential, and a proven track record of exceeding sales targets.

Better Up is a hybrid company. Employees are expected to work from one of our office hubs at least two days per week. US hubs include Austin, TX;
Chicago, IL;
New York City, NY;
San Francisco, CA; and Washington, DC. Europe hubs include London, UK and Amsterdam, NL.

What you’ll do
  • Execute daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly business metrics that drive new logos and expansion in assigned accounts.
  • Work with internal cross‑functional teams to create qualitative and quantitative value propositions for Better Up’s government solution, resulting in closed business and over‑achievement of quota.
  • Create demand directly in agency organizations and through agency partners to drive 4x pipeline growth quarter over quarter.
  • Collaborate closely with Alliance Partners to empower state and local governments in achieving peak performance and mission readiness.
  • Accurately forecast performance versus quota, analyze results through the sales funnel, and adjust strategy to optimize outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of government enterprise sales experience, including 5+ years of quota‑carrying, large‑enterprise software sales within state and local government.
  • Proven track record of identifying and selling government programs directly and through integrators to deliver Better Up solutions.
  • Top 10‑20% of the company in quota attainment.
  • Prior sales methodology training in MEDDIC/MEDDPIC (preferred) and Challenger selling.
  • Unrelenting drive to learn, succeed and lead by example in a hyper‑growth company.
  • Exceptional presentation, communication (written & verbal), empathy, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Technically savvy—comfortable with sales automation tools and proficient in Salesforce for managing cycles and forecasting details.
  • Process‑driven, meticulously organized, and self‑motivated.
  • Ability to adapt and iterate on your sales motion within a startup‑to‑growth environment.
  • Proven ability to create mutual success plans with prospects for new opportunities that lead to desired outcomes.

Base salary range: $120,000 – $180,000 (not including equity, sales bonus plans, or benefits).
