Job Summary

The ReStore Cashier welcomes customers, operates scanners and the cash register, processes cash, credit/debit, and gift card transactions quickly and efficiently. Processes all transactions according to ReStore procedures, ensuring all prices and quantities are accurate, provides receipts, accounts for daily bank drawer, verifies cash balances, answers ReStore phone and general customer questions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the ReStore by providing a positive customer experience, acknowledging and assisting customers when entering, leaving, or waiting in line to check out.
  • Ensure the work area is organized and clean, including dusting and maintaining organization of public restrooms, entrance, and showroom.
  • Assist with organization across the sales floor, not limited to the aforementioned areas.
  • Utilize the Point‑of‑Sale system following ReStore policies on pricing, rounding, and cash control.
  • Collaborate with team members to assist customers’ needs.
  • Prioritize safety, monitoring the showroom floor for concerns.
  • Cross‑train and cover other ReStore areas such as the sales floor, warehouse, donation scheduling, and other areas as required by Management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in the annual review process.
  • Adhere to Habitat for Humanity International and Affiliate Policies and Guidelines.
  • Answer general questions, provide advice and recommendations to customers.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Act as staff support at build sites as needed.
Essential Functions
  • Facilitate a safe and secure working and shopping environment.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Read, write, converse in English to support safety, efficiency, and customer service.
  • Stand for extended periods during the shift.
  • Operate a computer and POS system.
  • Utilize effective oral and written interpersonal skills.
  • Handle cash and various payment methods accurately.
  • Precisely count money.
  • Lift or move merchandise up to 100 lbs or work as part of a team.
  • Load and unload trucks if required.
  • Answer ReStore phone calls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Qualifications
  • Completion of high school (diploma or equivalent) preferred.
  • Equivalent education or experience in job‑related activities.
  • Strong customer orientation.
  • Friendly and helpful demeanor.
  • Positive attitude in high‑stress situations.
  • Ability and desire to work respectfully with people of all diverse backgrounds, in accordance with Habitat principles.
Time Requirements

This is a full‑time position (40 hours per week, occasional overtime offered). Tuesday–Saturday 8:30 am–5:30 pm. Satisfactory attendance required.
