Job Description
- The Custodial Worker (Shift
2) supports daily food service operations by assisting with meal preparation, maintaining sanitation standards, managing inventory, and supporting overall kitchen cleanliness. - This role requires adherence to food safety guidelines, collaboration with kitchen staff, and flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Prepare meals by following approved recipes and meal plans for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
- Cook and handle large quantities of food while ensuring portion control, quality, and taste standards.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling, storage, and preparation of food items.
- Clean kitchen areas, wash dishes, and sanitize equipment according to health regulations.
- ssist with food inventory management by tracking ingredients, reporting low stock, and supporting receipt and storage of supplies.
- Collaborate with cooks, dietary aides, and food service managers to ensure timely meal service and compliance with dietary requirements.
- Provide customer service by occasionally serving meals and accommodating dietary restrictions.
- Maintain accurate records including food and equipment temperature logs, food usage, and waste documentation.
- Work a flexible full-time schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required by operational needs.
- bility to follow approved menus provided by a Registered Dietician.
- Knowledge of basic food safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
- bility to prepare and serve meals in compliance with health and safety standards.
- Basic verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to complete First Aid and Infant CPR training.
- Prior experience in food preparation, custodial services, or kitchen support preferred.
- Experience working in environments involving children or institutional food service is a plus.
- Basic understanding of child nutrition, food allergies, and dietary restrictions.
- Knowledge of USDA meal requirements related to portion size and nutrition.
- bility to perform basic arithmetic including fractions, percentages, and ratios.
- bility to interpret basic technical data and complete required documentation.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in food preparation and service areas.
- Manage food inventory and submit required reports to supervisors.
- Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of children during mealtimes.
- Support staff by assisting with general cleaning and sanitation tasks.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and parents regarding food-related concerns.
- Completion of First Aid and Infant CPR training as required.
