We are a busy convenience market located on the corner of 8th Ave and Demonbreun Street connected to the Music City Convention Center. We serve our local community with fresh food, friendly service, and quick grab-and-go options. We're looking for a reliable and energetic Short Order Cook to join our team and help prepare quality meals in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Prepare short‑order menu items such as breakfast items, burgers, hot dogs, deli sandwiches, and fried foods
  • Food prep and cleaning
  • Ensure food is cooked and presented according to safety and quality standards
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and prep area
  • Restock ingredients and supplies as needed
  • Take customer orders when required and provide friendly service
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned
Location

We are seeking a Cook I for the Music City Center. Music City Center is Nashville's convention center located in the heart of downtown. The 2.1 million square foot facility opened in 2013 and was built so that Nashville could host large, city‑wide conventions in the downtown area. The mission of the Music City Center is to create significant economic benefit for the citizens of the greater Nashville region by attracting local and national events while focusing on community inclusion, sustainability and exceptional customer service delivered by our talented team members.

Principal

Function

The Cook I position performs as an informal leader among its peer cook positions. The Cook I will assume grill or line responsibilities within the kitchen requiring detail and creativity and will perform responsibilities for food preparation that require a greater level of experience and expertise than Cook II and Cook III.

The Cook I will contribute to Sodexo Live!’s operational and financial success by following all Sodexo Live! culinary standards for sanitation and preparation, and by guiding other culinary staff members to ensure that food product is of the highest quality in taste and appearance, to satisfy guest expectations and to maximize food revenues.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Prepare and coordinate orders to ensure they are cooked timely and with accuracy and prepared with the absolute highest quality of taste and presentation.
  • Comply with all established health, sanitation and safety procedures.
  • Contribute to goal of 100% customer satisfaction through personal commitment to customer service and leading the culinary team by example.
Qualifications / Skills Required
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in food preparation in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to interact verbally and listen attentively to co‑workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to follow written and oral direction.
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently.
Preferred
  • Culinary degree from an accredited college or university.
Other Requirements
  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly‑quartered environment.

Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
