The Research Assistant will work in a collaborative structural biology partnership between the Davis Research Lab of Structured Health and the Structural Biology Grid Consortium at Harvard Medical School. This person will help to provide training in structural biology, e.g. Cryogenic Electron Microscopy (CryoEM), to enable research faculty to develop the skills necessary for processing cryo
EM data. The person hired will also work on research in the Lab of Structured Health at Belmont.
Primary position responsibilities
:
- Full structural biology workflow: protein expression, purification, etc. Structural determination of proteins using cryogenic electron microscopy; computational structural biology (in silico analyses; molecular dynamics and docking simulations);
Some travel maybe required. Contribute substantively to the preparation of papers for publication, especially in the results section. Supervise lab personnel, including students and staff. - Organize cryo
EM data processing workshops. Develop training materials for workshops and prepare evaluations of workshops. - Perform all regulatory procedures for the lab, including submission of regulatory applications such as chemical safety protocols, managing the approval process, ensuring personnel training, and organizing the inspections for the various regulatory agencies.
- Organize the space use of the Davis lab of structured health, including allocation of bench space, equipment placement etc. Perform equipment and supply inventory checks.

Required Education
:
Bachelor s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Science, or similar relevant field is required.
Required Experience
:
Prior experience working in structural biology and/or computer science is required. 1-3 years experience is preferred.
The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check satisfactory to the University.
