Inotiv, Inc. is a leading contract research organization dedicated to supporting biopharmaceutical companies through analytical drug discovery and development services as well as research models.

The Research Associate will play a key role in expanding and advancing laboratory capabilities at the Nashville, TN site.

Responsibilities
  • Support and participate in the development of biomarker/biochemical pharmacology analysis platforms, including flow cytometry and ELISA-based (Luminex and MSD) platforms, for the Nashville site.
  • Support and participate in instrument performance qualification and maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities to apply flow cytometry and ELISA-based assays to meet company and client needs.
  • Support and participate in continuous process improvements in biochemical pharmacology and biomarker discovery, including instrumentation, sample preparation, automation, and data analysis.
  • Independently design experiments for flow cytometry and ELISA-based sample analysis.
  • Support and participate in the development and implementation of new methods and instrumentation in collaboration with the laboratory team.
  • Contribute scientific content for client communications, both in person and electronically.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Nashville’s capabilities and Inotiv’s broader service offerings.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and operational staff to provide timely responses to client inquiries.
  • Perform quality-control review of results and reports.
  • Develop new laboratory procedures and processes as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Best Practices, SOPs, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Share project updates and information with management and operations teams.
  • Maintain visibility on ongoing projects and contribute to customer satisfaction after project initiation.
  • Perform additional duties as outlined in applicable SOPs.
Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    MS or BS in Immunology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Experience:

    3–5 years of relevant industry experience preferred, with emphasis on flow cytometry and ELISA/immuno-based methods.
Skills And Abilities
  • Experience designing, qualifying, and implementing flow cytometry panels.
  • Strong hands-on experience with the operation and maintenance of modern immuno-based instruments (flow cytometry and ELISA), including plate-based high-throughput applications.
  • Working knowledge of bioanalysis processes, including sample preparation, calibration standards, quality control, instrument operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to apply innovative approaches and relevant techniques to solve client problems across diverse project contexts.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, a strong commitment to quality, and the ability to follow written instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of GLP/GCP regulations and consistent application in daily work, when applicable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adherence to all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to engage with customers to develop and implement new analyses and project designs, communicate project outcomes, and interpret data.
  • Experience in scientific writing for project reports and scientific manuscripts.

Physical Activity
  • Ability to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust masks or respirators, and safety glasses as required.
  • Manual dexterity to operate laboratory equipment and computers/calculators.
  • Ability to read and interpret test results and instrument specifications.

  • Exposure to potentially hazardous materials, requiring adherence to safety protocols and use of protective equipment.
