** Troubadour Golf & Field Club in College Grove, TN is currently seeking a Garden Attendant to join our Garden team. Nestled in the rolling hills of middle Tennessee, Troubadour Golf & Field Club is part of the Discovery Land Company family. Part-Time Seasonal role. Season begins March and will go through November. Hourly rate starting at $18 per hour. Must have flexibility to work hours, weekends and Holidays.
Plant care to include transplanting, harvesting, organic pest and disease control, pruning, trellising, switching of seasons.
Greenhouse care to include all season seed starting, soil blocking, transplanting, documentation, and basic temperature control.
Harvest responsibilities to include weighing, cleaning, organization, and help distributing.
Maintain plant beds and surrounding grounds from weeds, leaves, etc, using organic practices.
Basic upkeep/cleaning and organization of buildings, appliances, vehicles, fencing, tools and other equipment.
Animal care to include rotation of chicken coop and fence, food, water, sick care, cleaning, egg retrieval, as well as raising chicks.
Maintain daily record keeping and daily set up/closing procedures for plants, harvest, materials, daily logs, equipment and other information within operations management system.
Water and maintain new planting beds by hand watering and basic irrigation.
Safe operation of all hand tools, weed eaters, drills, saws, and some larger such as push mowers.
Keep all work areas orderly and neat.
Greet and help assist members and children in various activities, classes, daily tours, with produce and pop ins within the garden.
Assist with other projects and duties as requested/assigned.
Report any safety or maintenance issues immediately to the Garden Manager.
Attend department meetings and trainings as necessary.
Skills and Qualifications Gardening and farm experience with plant knowledge. Organic plant knowledge/practices a plus.
Ability to communicate and work with members and children daily. Hospitality experience a plus.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
Ability to communicate effectively with other members of department.
Ability to work in a team environment and operate in a safe, professional manner at all times.
Ability to operate small tools such as drills, saws, mowers, weed eaters, backpack blowers, utility vehicles.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
Ability to learn and navigate the property to complete assigned job tasks.
Possess valid Tennessee driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles properly and safely.
