Lifeguard

Position Overview

Lifeguards monitor the activities of Guests while in or on water attractions to assure that all appropriate Park policies and safety regulations are followed. Manage aquatic emergencies by applying lifeguard and first aid training learned through certification courses and department orientation, and provide a safe and enjoyable experience for each Guest throughout the day.

• Shallow Water Lifeguard Starting Pay: $12.25
• Must be at least 15 years of age
• Special Facilities Lifeguard Starting Pay: $12.75
• Must be at least 16 years of age

• Maintain a polite and friendly demeanor while working and interacting with guests.
• Adhere to and maintain the Ellis and Associates standard of care.
• Prepare water rides and attractions prior to park opening.
• Assure that all guests adhere to the rules of the water park.
• Manage emergency situations in the water park and assist First Aid staff when needed.
• Know and respond to questions regarding the park operations.
• Resolve customer complaints by using good sound judgment or by requesting assistance from a water park supervisor.
• Assist with the cleaning of the water park each day at the end of operation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

  Be cognoscente of surroundings and able to respond immediately to emergency situations by applying first aid knowledge obtained during training.

  Greet each and every guest in a warm and inviting manner; complete all supporting documentation in a clear and concise fashion; and able to read and interpret information quickly.
• Planning/Organizing:
  Keep assigned work area clean and orderly at all times; fill downtime with appropriate tasks; and work in an efficient manner.
• Quality Control:
  Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in work; look for ways to improve and promote quality; and able to monitor own work for quality assurance.
• Dependability:
  Follows instructions and responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; completes tasks on time or notifies supervisor with an alternate plan and timeline; consistently at work and on time for scheduled shift; and ensures responsibilities are covered when absent.

Must be at least 15 years of age to become a lifeguard.

• Ellis and Associate (E&A) Lifeguard License.
• E&A courses available free of charge for Nashville Shores team members.

Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk/pace; use hands to handle equipment; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; be required to lift up to 100 pounds; and apply first aid techniques including CPR.

Work Environment - While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to water and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to confined spaces and elevated work areas (depending on assigned location).

Occasionally = Less than 33% of time worked dedicated to the activity.

Frequently = Between 33% and 66% of time worked dedicated to the activity.

Regularly = More than 66% of the time worked dedicated to the activity.
