Job Summary and Qualifications

Full time (Monday - Friday, day shift), LVAD call rotation by schedule

The Nurse Navigator / LVAD Coordinator is a Registered Nurse RN who possesses advanced knowledge and skill in cardiac nursing. Makes decisions of moderate difficulty. Handles confidential information regarding patient records. Operates and analyzes telemetry cardiac monitors, exercise equipment and patient evaluation tools. May be required to make critical decisions concerning the initiative of emergency medical procedures. We want you to apply now.

What you will do in this role:

* Assists in the daily operations of the outpatient heart failure clinic.

* Documents patient treatment regularly and accurately according to departmental policy.

* Complete clinical evaluation of potential candidates for ventricular assist device intervention.

* Initiates advanced cardiac life support measures according to SAMC protocols in the event of a cardiac emergency.

* Participate in weekly selection committee meetings and monthly steering committee meetings

* Provides appropriate education to all patients.

* Demonstrates effective communication and organizational skills, and evidence of professional development.

* Familiar with current standards of practice and clinical and inpatient protocols.

* Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned in the absence of the nurse manager or supervisor.

* Maintains a flexible working schedule to allow for clinic coverage.

* Provide preoperative patient and family education for device candidates.

* Collaborate with Patient Financial Representatives about insurance coverage for the device prior to surgery.

* Collect data required by the hospital, the FDA, and other regulatory bodies related to implanted devices and submit to the appropriate agency(ies).
