Job Summary
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide direct medical care to hospitalized pediatric patients. Demonstrate advanced nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, and professionalism while managing admissions, charting, ordering tests, and contributing to efficiency and discharge planning. Shift hours are noon–midnight, primarily weekdays, with occasional weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and document patient history and perform complete physical examinations, developing a plan of care.
- Provide primary, acute, and complex inpatient care, managing the patient’s overall trajectory and identifying expected outcomes.
- Order, perform, interpret, and collect data using appropriate assessment techniques and diagnostic procedures.
- Form differential diagnoses and treat acute and chronic conditions of pediatric patients, including behavioral health.
- Prescribe therapeutic interventions—pharmacologic, non‑pharmacologic, and surgical—within scope of practice.
- Utilize evidence‑based protocols in planning and delivering care.
- Initiate appropriate referrals and consultations.
- Provide specialty‑specific consultation services when within scope.
- Facilitate patient transition between health care settings (admission, transfer, discharge).

- Health‑Systems & Policy Management: Applies fundamental proficiency in continuous professional development and ethical practice.
Sign‑On Bonus
Up to $15,000 for qualified candidates with 1+ years experience. Not applicable to current or former VUMC staff who worked within the past 12 months. Available only for full‑time positions.
Relocation Assistance
Available for candidates >100 miles from Nashville.
