Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift hospital position requiring a TN or compact license and strong bedside assessment skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 36-bed Med/Surg unit within a hospital setting

• Patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:5

• Shift is 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

• Four weekend shifts are required within each 4-week schedule block

• Unit is staffed with a secretary daily and PRN techs as needed

• Equipment includes PD Cyclers, Welch Allyn VS Carts, Hoyer Lift, Broda Chairs, and Alaris IV Pumps

• Uses Meditech for documentation

• Floating may occur over core staff

• Responsibilities include bedside shift reports, regular safety checks, and a strong focus on communication and patient responsiveness

• Dress code allows navy, blue, white, black, gray, or ceil blue scrubs

Requirements

• Active TN or compact state RN license required at the time of application

• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications are required

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience is required

• Ability to provide basic patient assessment and care for wounds, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, strokes, and seizures

• Experience with post-op care including amputations, ostomy, oral surgeries, and wound vacs

• Must be able to work with heparin drips and patients requiring dialysis or PCA pumps

• No work history gaps exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months

• Must provide US SSN and DOB for consideration

• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates will not be considered
