- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the PCU, focusing on those recovering from cardiac surgery.
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, recognizing changes in status and taking appropriate action.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed by the physician.
- Assist with postoperative care, including wound care, pain management, and patient education.
- Work collaboratively with the cardiac surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Educate patients and their families about the cardiac surgery process, postoperative care, and lifestyle modifications.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and families throughout the recovery process.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to developing best practices in cardiac surgical care.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU), preferably with a focus on cardiac surgery.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of cardiac surgical procedures and postoperative care.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Two professional references are required.
