Overview
The Metro Nashville Public Health Department (MPHD) is seeking a nurse professional with the passion and experience required to support pregnant and postpartum women enrolled in the Nashville Strong Babies. This is a non‑supervisory position. This grant‑funded position reports to the Maternal Child Adolescent Health Division Director and maintains a primary workstation at the Lentz Health Center location.

Responsibilities- Collaborates with management team on staff development needs and staff training.
- Onboards new care team members, creates and updates onboarding manual.
- Provides peer support during high‑risk case consultations and debriefs with Nurse Manager.
- Completes post‑partum nurse visits for approximately 50% of high‑risk clients for which a nurse visit is indicated.
- Completes case management services for approximately 50% of medically high‑risk prenatal participants for which a nurse case load is indicated.
- Serves as the team lead for managing incoming program referrals.
- Serves as the team lead for managing intakes of newly enrolled participants.
- May assist with completing initial or updated nurse risk assessments as needed.
- Assists with the facilitation of prenatal group‑based education as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- This position will report to the office and work in the community as directed.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee. Applicants holding a Registered Nurse license from a state that participates in the “Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact” may be hired but must obtain their Tennessee license within thirty (30) days of hire.
- Diploma or Associate's Degree in nursing. Candidates with Diploma or Associate's Degree in nursing must establish a documented ability to competently perform all functions of this classification to be considered.
- All public health nurses are required to complete a department approved Certificate in Public Health as a condition of continued employment. Possess required competencies upon hiring.
- Valid class “D” driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.
- One (1) year experience in hospital labor and delivery setting or in perinatal care.
- Bachelor's degree from a state-approved school of nursing.
