Scheduler Duties in a Manufacturing Facility- Production Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain production schedules based on demand, inventory levels, and resource availability.
- Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes in order volume, raw material availability, or equipment issues.
- Collaborate with production managers to prioritize tasks for maximum efficiency.
- Ensure that production schedules align with company goals and customer delivery deadlines.
- Coordination & Communication:
- Liaise between departments, including production, procurement, logistics, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless operations.
- Communicate schedule updates and changes to relevant teams.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of raw materials.
- Work closely with the warehouse and shipping teams to ensure on‑time order fulfillment.
- Resource Allocation & Optimization:
- Allocate labor, equipment, and materials efficiently to avoid bottlenecks.
- Monitor workforce availability and adjust schedules accordingly.
- Ensure proper utilization of machinery to prevent downtime and optimize efficiency.
- Inventory & Material Management:
- Track raw material levels and finished goods to ensure sufficient stock for production.
- Work with procurement teams to avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Implement Just‑In‑Time (JIT) inventory strategies when applicable.
- Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor production performance against schedules and targets.
- Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts or delays.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Maintain records of production metrics and analyze data for future planning.
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure that scheduling activities comply with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Prepare reports on production status, delays, and efficiency improvements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of schedules, work orders, and adjustments.
- Software & Technology Utilization:
- Utilize Smartsheet for project planning, task tracking, and real‑time collaboration on scheduling activities.
- Use Epicor ERP for production planning, inventory management, and real‑time manufacturing execution.
- Implement automated scheduling tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Keep up to date with new scheduling technologies and best practices.
