- The Machine Operator (Doctor Dept) will assist in producing and controlling the quality of film produced. Ensure product quality and control of production processes. Provide a safe work environment through proper training and communication.
- Work closely with the Lead Operator and Assistant Production Manager to ensure customer quality expectations and site goals are met.
- Accurately report and document any problems, issues, downtime and corrective measures in the line log book.
- Assist in the training of new hires.
- Ensure finished products are within customer specifications.
- Ensure and verify all outgoing products are labeled and packaged according to customer specifications.
- Maintain housekeeping on the line and adjacent areas following GMP & 5S guidelines.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and demonstrate a safety‑conscious manner.
- Ensure proper and safe use of all facility equipment.
- Work with maintenance technicians to complete minor and preventative maintenance on the line.
- Maintain communication with Lead Operator and Assistant Production Manager of any problems or issues that could result in extended downtime.
- Maintain daily production rate at acceptable levels as determined by management and keep machine downtime to a minimum to maximize output rates.
- Support plant and company goals.
- Perform all quality checks accurately and ensure that all data is recorded properly on checklists.
- Make quality decisions on materials for shipment or rejection.
- Ensure that the incoming shift has all materials needed to get started at the beginning of the shift.
- Ensure FIFO requirements are followed.
- Ensure Lean Initiatives are achieved.
- Education:
H.S. Diploma or GED - Experience:
Manufacturing experience preferred
- Knowledge of and skills in the use of office machines (computer and copier) and business procedures.
- Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude and experience.
- Understanding of the basic fundamentals of plastic product machinery and the process behind the mechanics.
- Ability to use equipment properly such as tow motors, cutting tools and lifting hoists.
Job functions will be performed in and around production, warehouse and office areas and within a broad range of temperatures ranging from 40-120 degrees Fahrenheit.
Effort and Physical Demands- Requires prolonged sitting and frequent bending (20%), standing and walking (65%), occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs, pulling and pushing (15% utilizing material handling equipment to lift & move rolls averaging 175 lbs), manual dexterity and the ability to distinguish numbers & letters.
