Job Summary

The Manager, Patient Care Services is a leadership role with comprehensive operational authority and responsibility for designated clinical area(s). The role requires fiscal accountability, maintenance of quality and regulatory standards, high level of patient/family centered care and service, patient and staff satisfaction, program development, team management, and integration with the clinical enterprise. The Manager provides feedback, coaching, and mentoring to peers and other members of the health care team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate to operationalize the mission, strategic plan, budgets, resource allocation, operational plans, and policies for the PCC, Hospitals, and Vanderbilt Clinic.
  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets following established guidelines and using benchmark data.
  • Develop and monitor the implementation of area‑specific quality plan linked to organizational goals.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Quality Management (Novice):
    Continuously analyze and evaluate work processes, strive for improvement, establish and communicate standards, and provide creative solutions.
  • Business Results (Novice):
    Develop and implement measures for business results, track progress, maintain focus on quality under pressure, anticipate customer needs, and respond effectively to environmental changes.
  • People Management (Intermediate):
    Resolve conflicts and disciplinary issues, provide counseling and career development, give timely feedback, create a positive work climate, coach and assess subordinates, and reward behaviors that support company values.
  • Operations Planning (Intermediate):
    Forecast resource needs, schedule activities, set priorities, manage dependencies, anticipate events, and handle multiple projects with urgency.
  • Compliance (Intermediate):
    Apply rules and regulations in complex situations, interpret ambiguous regulations, and train others.
  • Leadership (Intermediate):
    Motivate and inspire, communicate constructively, share risks and accountability, and achieve results through influence and coaching.
