POSITION SUMMARYThe Client Development Manager will design and execute strategies to support the firm’s client development, visibility and engagement initiatives. Our Marketing Team is looking for an individual with the drive to leverage effective marketing-related activities and proactively engage stakeholders across the firm to support its new business pursuits.
COMPENSATIONAt Spencer Fane, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including but not limited to location, skillset, experience, training, licenses, certifications and other business or organizational needs. Compensation will be determined based on the above factors along with the requirements of the position. We expect the yearly salary for this position to be between $95,000 to $145,000.
PRIMARYRESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the goals and objectives of the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice and related Market Teams with the aim of serving as a trusted resource to these externally facing groups.
- Collaborate with and provide strategic guidance to Market Teams and their members throughout the firm as they build business plans, demonstrate experience in their respective categories, pursue new client opportunities, and increase their visibility in markets of interest to each team.
- Liaise with Market Team leaders by participating in Market Team Leader group meetings, individual Market Team meetings, etc.
- Explore and pursue creative ways to promote Market Teams internally for purposes of recruiting new team members while also helping teams increase their visibility externally for purposes of demonstrating their value to client communities.
- Play a lead role in managing and preparing pitches and proposals as attorneys and teams pursue new business opportunities, which would include the development of unique marketing materials, custom proposals and formal responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Play an active role in client development by assisting attorneys and teams with activities including: drafting and maintaining marketing content, researching prospective clients and industries, and exploring answers to questions that may require creative problem solving and collaboration with other departments across the firm.
- Manage emerging projects with colleagues across the Marketing Team in a manner that encourages collaboration as well as proper alignment of responsibilities across events, marketing communications, public relations and client development.
- Supervise, direct and mentor Client Development Specialist/s to ensure they are aligned with the firm’s goals and objectives while also engaged in challenging and rewarding work.
- Assist in the development of the firm’s annual Marketing Budget with a specific focus on deploying resources effectively to Market Teams, Practice Groups and individual attorneys.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the firm’s business development efforts by exploring new methods, tools and techniques for supporting the firm’s overall client development.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field or a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ marketing-related experience and success in professional services-related marketing and business development, including a law firm experience highly preferred.
- Interpersonal and Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage as a consultant with various firm stakeholders.
- High degree of motivation, appetite for collaboration, and driving sense of responsibility and responsiveness.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Systems and Technology: Experience with legal industry CRM and related tools such as Introhive, Salesforce, Pardot, Pitchbook, Smartsheet, etc.
- Time Management: Ability to work in fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Travel: Ability to travel to various marketing/firm events/meetings 20% of the time.
- Physical Requirements: Position is generally sedentary in nature; involves sitting most of the time but may involve the need for inter-office mobility for brief periods of time.
- Ability to occasionally or routinely lift up to 10 – 20 lbs.
- Communication: Ability to efficiently communicate.
- Manual Dexterity: Ability to perform repetitive motions required.
- Visual Requirements: Ability to see and read PC screens, detect color coding, read fine print, and/or normal size print.
