Paralegal / Legal Assistant – Litigation (Medical Malpractice & Insurance Defense)
Location: Fully on-site (Nashville, TN)
Schedule: 9:00–6:00 or 8:30–5:00 (limited flexibility)
OverviewWe are supporting apartner attorney (top litigator) who needs high-level paralegal/legal assistant support due to a heavy and demanding caseload. This role supports medical malpractice defense, insurance defense, and professional liability matters. The attorney is extremely deadline-driven and highly demanding, so this position requires someone exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working under pressure.
Key Responsibilities- Directly support a partner attorney with a large and complex litigation caseload
- Prepare, draft, and file pleadings, motions, correspondence, and legal documents
- Manage federal and state court filings across multiple jurisdictions
- Handle e-filing systems including Tibera, Odyssey, and other court-specific platforms
- Track and manage numerous deadlines and court requirements (critical skill)
- Maintain and organize extensive case files (electronic and physical)
- Manage attorney’s email, calendar, and scheduling
- Schedule depositions, hearings, mediations, and other litigation events
- Coordinate with insurance carriers, clients, experts, and opposing counsel
- Provide general administrative and litigation support as needed
- 5+ years experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in litigation
- Strong background in insurance defense and/or medical malpractice preferred
- Experience with federal filings and multiple court systems
- Extremely strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Comfortable supporting a high-demand attorney
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage pressure, volume, and tight deadlines independently
- Experience supporting a top-producing or high-volume litigator
- Familiarity with filing fee services and court-specific filing nuances
