Data Governance Intern; Summer

This internship is located in our Nashville, TN or Birmingham, AL office. This is a paid internship and part-time depending on the students schedule. We are also flexible on the start date based on the student's school schedule. Internship is also able to extend into  school year, dependent on student's schedule.

We are ideally looking for rising Junior or Seniors.

The First Bank Data Governance Analyst Intern serves as a resource on special projects and assignments that support the data governance program of the bank. The role requires a combination of business, analytical, technical and presentation skills. The primary focus will be on data analysis and business process documentation.

• Document current state of business and data flow processes
• Interview business and technical stakeholders and document data issues, gaps, and opportunities
• Identify areas to improve data quality
• Assist in building metrics around data management and data quality standards
• Review data quality issues, perform analysis, recommend fixes
• Track and report data quality statistics for data quality
• Collect and update business metadata and reference data
• Translate business rules into data quality rules and produce data controls
• Support applications and platforms to enable effective sharing of data
• Provide training and data assistance as needed

Education and/or

Experience:

• Pursuing a college degree in computer science, business administration, finance, or relevant technical, data governance or regulatory compliance experience

Skills and Abilities:

• Self‑directed and self‑driven with the ability to work with others
• Strong research and problem‑determination and solution skills
• Principles of data analysis with some technical expertise with SQL/SAS/Python/R/etc.
• Ability to present technical information to business partners
• Solid written, verbal, interpersonal, analytical skills
• Ability to review and analyze data and identify and resolve problems
