Job SummaryThe Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, maintaining and administering the airport’s computer networks. Primary duties include maintaining computer networks, hardware, software, and other related systems; performing disaster recovery operations; protecting data, software, and hardware from attacks; and working closely with network users to identify potential issues and resolve existing problems.

- Provides technical support of BNA’s network environment by identifying network requirements, installing network components, maintaining upgrades, and monitoring network performance.
- Plans, designs, and implements network security SD‑Access policies.
- Configures and maintains Cisco Digital Network Architecture.
- Configures and maintains Cisco SD‑Access and ISE security policies.
- Maintains and updates LAN and WAN documentation.
- Forms, defines, and designs network project scope and objectives based on business needs.
- Tracks and manages upgrades to network assets and infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, modems, fiber, wireless APs, and telephone infrastructure.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of local area networking (Rapid PVST, Multi‑Chassis Ether Channel, VPC VRRP, VSS, spanning‑tree, trunking, SVI, etc.).
- Designs, sets up, and configures complex switching environments utilizing Cisco ISR 4331 routers, Cisco Catalyst 3850, 9300, 9500 Nexus switches, and IOS systems.
- Diagnoses and resolves wired, wireless, and VLAN issues.
- Runs and analyzes sniffer traces with deep TCP/IP protocol understanding.
- Serves as lead for review of design and implementation of network projects and resolves technical and operational issues.
- Responds to unplanned events that affect the network or computing environment.
- Sets up router, switch, and server hardware access for users.
- Produces and analyzes equipment performance records to determine repair or replacement needs.
- Determines hardware or software requirements related to systems and network changes.
- Investigates, recommends, and installs enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability.
- Works with users to identify existing system problems.
- Audits and maintains network configuration for PCI‑DSS compliance.
- Evaluates network topology and plans for network resilience.
- Maintains regular and on‑time attendance.
- Follows all safety regulations.
- Supports MNAA’s culture and values (Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Strong knowledge of the OSI model.
- Skill in managing and troubleshooting Cisco network hardware and spanning‑tree protocol.
- Skill in configuring hierarchical network infrastructures.
- Extensive routing protocol and troubleshooting skills in BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF.
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN systems configuration, implementation, and administration.
- Skill in sub‑netting and managing IP networks.
