little bit about the role!

Kent Scientific is looking for a Research Product Manager to support our growing portfolio of research tools and drive strategic product expansion as the primary focus, with customer support and service as a secondary responsibility. In this highly collaborative role, you’ll bridge technical support, product development, and sourcing strategy. Reporting to the Technical Resources & Product Lead, this person will support cross-functional initiatives to identify and acquire new complementary products, engage suppliers, and assist customers with expert technical guidance.

You’ll act as a connector between customer needs, supplier capabilities, and internal stakeholders. Ideal candidates bring a blend of scientific curiosity, hands‑on experience in laboratory settings (especially in vivo), strong experience managing large‑scale and complex projects, and a knack for spotting opportunities in a competitive market. The Research Product Manager will be responsible for the following:

Driving Product Expansion & Sourcing Strategy
  • Identify and evaluate new product opportunities – including accessories, consumables, and complementary product lines – aligned with Kent’s vision and customer needs.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor offerings to inform product roadmap and positioning decisions.
  • Lead vendor outreach and relationship management, supporting negotiations around pricing, quality, and timelines.
  • Partner with production, marketing, and sales to source, vet, and prepare new products for launch.
  • Develop cost and margin analyses to support sourcing decisions and catalog expansion initiatives.
  • Own sourcing programs and catalog expansion efforts end‑to‑end.
Providing Technical Support & Education
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on veterinary anesthesia and physiological monitoring equipment.
  • Provide advanced technical support to customers and internal teams, including complex cases and escalations.
  • Develop scientific and technical materials such as white papers, application notes, training resources, and help center content.
  • Represent Kent Scientific in webinars, trade shows, and educational presentations to support customer learning and product adoption.
Supporting Cross-Functional Operations
  • Collaborate with technical, marketing, sales, and production teams to improve workflows and cross‑functional alignment.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues related to vendor management, product setup, and internal handoffs.
  • Support light project management and documentation to maintain momentum across product and vendor initiatives.

  • A bachelor’s degree in biology, physiology, animal science, or a related scientific field (LVT or LAT certification a plus; PhD preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in product, sourcing, or vendor management, ideally within a biomedical or life sciences environment.
  • Experience managing large or complex projects (PMP certification a plus).
  • Hands‑on lab or research experience, particularly with in vivo animal models, including designing and conducting scientific experiments.
  • A strong track record producing high-quality scientific and technical documentation (e.g., white papers, application notes, study reports).
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and data interpretation skills, with the ability to translate insights into product or sourcing recommendations.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex scientific or technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated success working cross‑functionally to support product launches or customer‑facing initiatives.
