OverviewAmazon Web Services (AWS) leads the cloud industry with a scalable, low‑cost infrastructure platform powering businesses globally. The AWS Managed Operations (MO) organization was founded in April 2023 to reduce operational load through long‑term engineering projects. The MODS team focuses on data and insight strategy to drive operational excellence across AWS regions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end‑to‑end data science lifecycle: data exploration, ETL, model development, and data visualization.
- Design and implement data pipelines and infrastructure using Spark, Airflow, and other analytical frameworks.
- Develop ML/AI models, partner with software teams to productionalize these models, and monitor model performance.
- Define advanced metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) that capture strategic objectives and operational complexities; continuously monitor and evaluate metric performance.
- Provide analytical research that informs AWS Operations and Site Reliability Engineering teams and supports technology strategy for the MO organization.
- 3+ years of data scientist experience.
- 3+ years of data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/software packages (R, SAS, Matlab).
- 3+ years of experience with machine learning/statistical modeling tools, techniques, and performance evaluation.
- Knowledge of statistical measures (confidence intervals, significance, error metrics) and dataset evaluation.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning, or an equivalent quantitative field; or Master’s degree with 4+ years of data scientist experience.
- 6+ years of data scientist experience.
- 4+ years of experience with machine learning, statistical modeling, data mining, and analytics techniques.
- Hands‑on experience with data scripting languages (SQL, Python, R) or statistical/mathematical software (R, SAS, Matlab).
- Experience with clustered data processing (Hadoop, Spark, Map‑Reduce, Hive).
- Prior role as a data scientist in a large technology company.
- Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
