Data Analyst, Data Science Manager, Business Systems/ Tech Analyst
Position Summary
The Business Intelligence Analyst at Velocity Risk will work closely with the product, catastrophe modeling, actuarial, and claims teams to understand their data needs, automate tasks, analyze complex datasets related to catastrophe‑exposed commercial property, and deliver insightful reports, interactive dashboards, and advanced analytics. The ideal candidate will have an inherent drive to solve puzzles and use creativity to resolve complex problems.
Experience in the E&S catastrophe‑exposed property market, business intelligence, or data analytics is a plus.
Location:
Nashville, TN (Hybrid, Tues‑Thurs In‑Office)
- Develop and maintain robust BI solutions, including interactive dashboards, scorecards, and ad‑hoc reports.
- Analyze large, complex datasets from diverse sources, identify trends and opportunities.
- Support product, catastrophe modeling, actuarial, claims, underwriting, and operations teams with analytical tools and reports.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity, work with data engineering to resolve anomalies.
- Improve and automate data collection, transformation, and reporting processes.
- Provide knowledge sharing on Tableau, SQL, Python, and other technologies.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging BI technologies.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Finance, Actuarial Science, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus. - Experience:
Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role; P&C insurance industry experience; E&S commercial property/catastrophe‑exposed risk experience is a plus. - Technical
Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL (MSSQL and SnowSQL); BI platforms such as Tableau (preferred) or Power
BI; familiarity with Sagemaker, Bedrock, Databricks; familiarity with catastrophe modeling outputs. - Analytical and problem‑solving skills, ability to synthesize insights.
- Communication and presentation skills, ability to explain to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Business acumen, project management, adaptability, collaboration.
