The Vice President of Research Operations is responsible for the research operations across assigned sites, working closely with Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI) leadership. Assigned sites in partnership with the Sr. Vice President of Research Operations, implements strategies, promotes operational standards, and ensures the research services are coordinated across the assigned sites. This position works closely with the assigned sites administration, any associated facility administration, the physicians, and SCRI leadership.

  • Works closely with the Sr. Vice President of Research Operations to provide administrative direction for the research operations of the assigned sites
  • Assists in developing and executing SCRI internal and external strategies
  • Provides operational oversight, leadership, and direction in the execution and management of trials at assigned sites
  • Manages performance and development of all direct reporting colleagues
  • Oversees clinical trial related activities completed/performed by the research staff to ensure completeness and accuracy as well as adherence to federal and state guidelines
  • Manages, monitors, and operates within approved budget
  • Assess organization processes associated with trial execution and identifies ways to improve and streamline internal procedures
  • Monitors industry trends and participates in educational activities as directed by SCRI
  • Collaborates with assigned research administrative site leaders, practice administrative leaders, hospital administration, physician leaders, and all SCRI leaders to implement the research strategy ensuring high quality and efficient services while promoting growth
  • Communicates regularly and routinely with the Sr. Vice President of Research Operations concerning enrollment, operational structure and challenges, status of meeting objectives, and quality while highlighting risks and suggested courses of action pertinent to the efficient operation of the research of the assigned sites
  • Works closely with the Senior Vice President to ensure the strategies, priorities, and operations of all assigned research sites are aligned and complementary to SCRI
  • Works closely with the Quality Leadership to obtain regular status reports, opportunity reports, risks, and plans to ensure the highest level of quality at assigned sites and report and/or escalate to leadership appropriately
  • Reports to Senior Vice President on the status of all projects and objectives, highlighting areas where executive action is necessary.
  • Ensures internal process and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are updated according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and ensure internal Quality Assurance standards and practices are in place
You should have for this position:
  • Bachelor Degree required, Master's Degree preferred
  • At least seven years of leadership experience
  • Broad based business acumen and understanding of research practices and processes (operations, finance, technology, etc.)
  • Knowledge of oncology
  • Outstanding strategic thinking and management skills
  • Outstanding people leading skills of large teams
  • Success in partnering with healthcare administrators and physicians
