Overview
The Crime Laboratory Evidence Receiving Technician assists with the administration and general management of evidence and performs related duties as required. The employee may be required to work past regular hours or work extended hours and must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is a 24/7/365 operation. You will be responsible for the general welfare of the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County, and for ensuring optimum communications within Metro and between Metro and the public. Responsibilities- Performs any combination of administrative, clerical, and scientific duties in assigned unit.
- Assists in the management of laboratory evidence.
- Assists in maintaining records, security, and quality documents of the unit.
- Communicates with internal and external public and private sources in the best interest of the laboratory.
- Works on special projects, prepares reports and presents as assigned.
- Attends professional meetings as required.
- Assists in preparing the unit for annual accreditation audit and acts as representative of records if requested.
- May assist in other units as needed.
- May testify in court as needed.
High school diploma and three (3) years of experience in database management, shipping, receiving, or inventory.
License RequiredValid Driver License

Note:
Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078, all employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
- Knowledge of forensic laboratory accreditation standards, chain of custody, and forensic laboratory practices
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, LIMS, ARMS
- Ability to work safely with biological and chemical hazards without presenting a direct threat to self or others
