Overview
Make your mark for patients — UCB is looking for a clinically experienced, science-driven, patient-focused Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to work with the Myasthenia Gravis Team for the Rare Disease Organization (RDO). The role supports the Rare Disease neurology missions in the Central Region, which currently includes St. Louis, Lexington, Tennessee, Georgia, Northern Mississippi, and Alabama (excluding the coast).

The MSL provides peer-level scientific exchange with clinicians and researchers working in neuromuscular diseases. This role emphasizes building trusted, science-driven collaborations to foster deep understanding of complex diseases, advance potential new therapies, and map strategies for patient value creation in the rare disease community.

- Manage and execute stakeholder engagement within a region based on training, expertise, and individualized approaches to identifying local needs and opportunities.
- Engage regularly with clinical trial sites, investigators, key opinion leaders, and patient advocacy organizations to seek to improve the lives of patients with neuromuscular diseases.
- Provide training and expertise to internal colleagues as a subject matter expert within neuromuscular disease.
- Be proactive and identify new ways to bring value to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop evidence-generation projects with Centers of Excellence to differentiate UCB and its solutions.
- Support and drive patient identification programs.
- Foster appropriate discussion of UCB research objectives and findings through thought leader engagement and educational activities.
- Represent UCB at local, regional, and national professional and academic conferences where issues related to the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular diseases are addressed.
- Map existing care pathways within a defined region to identify unique or evolving unmet patient needs.
- Identify and cultivate potential clinical trial partners and work with existing trial sites to ensure recruitment, participation, and reporting objectives are met and are compliant with UCB standards of practice.
- Support identification of patients (diagnosed & undiagnosed) who might be eligible for clinical trial enrollment.
- Develop relationships with leading academic researchers and thought leaders to align on key research and clinical objectives.
- Serve as the local expert in UCB’s focus on its rare pipeline.
- Identify and cultivate potential new investigators and respond to medical-level inquiries from regional patient advocacy groups.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral level degree (Pharm
D, Ph.D., DNP, and/or MD);
Nurse Practitioners with related clinical or research expertise will be considered - Less than 1 year of experience as a Medical Science Liaison
- Ability to clearly articulate & present complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings
- Live within the territory
- Ability to travel 50-60% or more
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in neurology, neuromuscular, and/or rare diseases;
Nurse Practitioners with 3+ years of neurology clinical experience, research experience (e.g., co-PI or study coordinator), presentation and conference leadership experience, KOL status, etc. - Experience in partnership with Global and local therapy area experts and external organizations
- Experience with clinical trials
- Ability to work independently and manage a large territory with multiple stakeholders
The positions reasonably anticipate a base salary range of $–$ annually. The actual salary offered will consider related knowledge, skills, experience and location among other factors and may fall outside the expected range.
