Special Chemistry Medical Technologist - Nashville, TN

JOB SUMMARY:

The individual in this role holds a valid Medical Technologist (MT) license and is accountable for daily specimen processing, analysis, and result reporting. This position entails standard Medical Technologist responsibilities and involves consulting with Medical Technologist III when needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Independently performs all tasks of a Medical Technologist I and demonstrates satisfactory clinical competency in standard procedures.
  • Receives and processes specimens following department protocols.
  • Develops and revises procedures to enhance testing and reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Aids in administrative tasks such as supply ordering and inventory management under the guidance of the Supervisor, Manager, and Director.
  • Adheres to laboratory safety measures and follows procedures as outlined in manuals.
  • Generates, interprets, and delivers precise test results.
  • Detects and rectifies issues that might impact test performance or result reporting of patient samples.
  • Communicates pertinent information or concerns within the section to appropriate individuals.
  • Conducts instrument maintenance and troubleshoots methods as required.
  • Contributes to documentation and the upkeep of department quality assurance and control programs.
  • Complies with the Corporate Compliance Program and all relevant Corporate policies, including Privacy and Security policies.
  • Meets productivity expectations established by current departmental guidelines.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
  • Valid ASCP or AMT certification is mandatory.
  • Must maintain adequate continuing education for certification and licensure.
  • Preferred three or more years of relevant work experience.
