Job SummaryThe Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt seeks to hire a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join the Behavioral Health and Patient Safety Teams in supporting children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an acute care medical setting. The BCBA will work with our existing BCBA to expand supports for children in the hospital with severe problem behaviors or behaviors interfering with medical adherence.
The focus is on providing evidence-based behavioral treatment for children in acute psychiatric crisis or with a primary medical issue and comorbid behavioral concerns interfering with care. The BCBA will provide direct patient care to promote safety and coping in the hospital setting and train staff to implement basic behavioral strategies to reduce challenging and dangerous behavior. They will assess, develop, implement, and oversee the behavioral treatment plan and provide caregiver training and some follow-up consultative support, with opportunities for clinic time.
& Requirements
Minimum:
Master’s degree; BCBA in good standing; TN licensure as a Behavior Analyst (LBA) in good standing or eligibility to apply; 3-5 years of experience assessing and treating challenging behaviors in ages 3-22; experience serving children, students, and/or adults with diverse educational and behavioral needs, and with caregivers and professional providers. Substantial experience in one or more areas may replace the need for expertise in all areas.
Strong desire for continued professional development and collaboration; excellent communication/presentation skills; proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom or similar.
Experience with providing services across hospital settings, training staff, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams is preferred.

Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Behavioral Health Team and caregivers to assess incoming patients.
- Implement and evaluate procedures for safety for patients and staff.
- Train staff on general and individualized patient procedures for safety.
- Assist the transition team in discharge resources.
- Develop systems for monitoring and evaluating behavioral services from intake to discharge.
- Supervise direct care staff implementing behavioral strategies.
- Collaborate on service and program evaluation.
- Participate in clinical team meetings.
- Communicate with internal and external team members regarding service implementation.
- Develop materials for behavior coaching, caregiver training, and follow-up consultation services.
