The Nuclear Medicine (NM) Technologist performs general nuclear medicine and PET CT examinations, ensuring high‑quality customer service and image quality. The NM tech receives, calibrates, logs, administers, and monitors the decay of radioactive isotopes following policies, procedures, and radiation safety practices.
Responsibilities- Perform nuclear medicine exams following protocols and in a timely manner, ensuring a high quality of care.
- Receive, calibrate, log, administer, and monitor the decay of radioactive isotopes.
- Provide radiation safety support in the event of a radiation incident or spill.
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
- Record patients' medical information.
- Coordinate patient flow and review the daily list to ensure all exams are complete.
- Inform the patient about the procedure and answer questions.
- Interact and communicate professionally with co‑workers, physicians, patients, and family members.
- Maintain all licenses, certifications, and accreditations required as outlined in job qualifications.
- Adhere to the facility ICARE values.
- Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
- Educate patients on discharge instructions.
- Demonstrate technical skills and procedures proficiency.
- Be knowledgeable in handling radioactive materials.
- Know human growth and development, assessment, treatment range, and care appropriate to patient ages.
- Properly measure radioactive waste and dispose of it according to regulatory guidelines.
- Graduation from an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine.
- Current registry by CNMT or ARRT (N). Required.
- BLS required.
- PET CT experience preferred.
- On call requirement for this role.
