Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Corporate Tax Manager to lead and develop a team of tax accountants. Candidates considered will hold a CPA and a minimum of 5 years of tax experience with at least 2 years of management experience leading a team. This person will join an industry‑leading organization to manage key efforts for the tax accounting team. This person plays a vital role in supporting the department’s daily operations and long‑term growth.
The Corporate Tax team oversees all aspects of corporate income tax compliance, planning, and provision. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for preparing federal and multi‑state income tax returns, tax provision preparation, tax planning, and leading a team of tax accountants. Additional duties may include income tax research and providing audit assistance.
- Oversee the preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns, ensuring compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax accountants.
- Manage the calculation and review of quarterly estimated tax payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Roll forward and/or reconcile various tax‑related accounts.
- Play a key role in the preparation of the annual income tax provision (ASC 740), ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
- Conduct in‑depth research on complex tax issues, providing strategic solutions and contributing to special projects as required.
- Collaborate with other departments and assist in tax audits, providing necessary documentation and support as needed.
- Take on additional responsibilities and projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and leadership in various tax‑related areas.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant.
- Minimum of 5 – 7 years of progressive income tax compliance.
- Minimum of 2 years of management experience.
- Experience working with an ERP system, Oracle R12 experience preferred.
- Experience working with IBM Planning and Analytics is a plus.
- Experience working the mining industry is a plus.
- Experience with multi‑state corporate and partnership income tax returns.
- Ability to work independently with minimal daily direction to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to research issues, make recommendations, and pick up quickly on new systems and processes.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills & enjoys learning new technology.
- Well organized, detail‑oriented, focused, and a team player.
- Any industrial, manufacturing, or construction industry experience is a plus.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with all types of individuals.
