Job Overview
Join EY as a State Income Tax Manager to apply your knowledge of tax areas and processes, devising strategic outcomes to complex issues. You will provide tax consulting, planning, and compliance services to a diverse range of clients.
ResponsibilitiesThe State Income Tax Manager will oversee state-level tax projects, including compliance and related research, and lead a team in managing state tax compliance and advisory services for clients.
- Managing and executing state income tax compliance responsibilities
- Monitoring and analyzing changes in state income tax laws and regulations
- Providing complex tax review, research, planning, and consulting services
- Leading or assisting with various tax planning, research, and special projects
- Preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual state income tax provisions
- Modeling various state income tax benefits and consequences
- Writing tax technical memos
- Developing and working with staff to create a team environment
To qualify for the role, you must have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline, and approximately six years of related work experience.
- Achieved or partially achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, or ability to sit for or be a member of a state bar
- High level of proficiency in state income tax code, regulations, and procedures
- Proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context
- Ability to analyze client data, technical guidance, and make recommendations
- Ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects
- Strong influencing skills and confidence to question existing processes
- Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid environment
At EY, we offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, including medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and paid time off options. The base salary range for this job is $105,100 to $192,600.
