DOOR HOST JOB SUMMARY
The door host is responsible for taking reasonable steps to: (1) protect the safety of our guests and employees, (2) enforce Company policies in compliance with the ABC Act and similar laws, including, but not limited to, not allowing entry by individuals who are under the age of 21 or individuals showing signs of intoxication, and (3) protect the property of our guests, the Company, and our employees.
The door host is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the venue and taking out the trash, performing bussing duties as directed by the MOD, and assisting with band and entertainer load-ins and load outs as directed by the MOD.
Our door hosts are the first person that our guests see and are the employees to whom guests and other employees turn to when they have a question or a concern regarding guest conduct. Our door hosts therefore must greet guests in a warm, professional, and accommodating manner, and maintain positive, safe, and professional interactions with all guests, coworkers, and management team members.
DOORHOST ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage admission to the premises by checking guests’ identifications and compliance with the Company dress code, guest conduct policies and other venue policies in a friendly manner.
- Monitor for, and take steps to prevent and control guest conduct issues such as over consumption of alcohol, rowdy conduct or belligerent behavior.
- Intervene in incidents involving guests acting in a rowdy or belligerent manner to protect all guests and employees, take control of guests involved in incidents, and remove those guests from the venue.
- Maintain a positive, high, well-balanced energy level throughout the entire shift.
- Have strong interpersonal communication skills in order to greet guests, answer guest questions and address guest concerns in a warm, professional, and accommodating manner.
- Exhibit consistently dependable, reliable, punctual, and trustworthy conduct.
- Acknowledge guests in a friendly manner, both when they arrive and when they leave. Be assertive and sincere in greeting guests.
- Clean empty glassware on railings and tables, and clean napkins, paper and other items off the table and floor to keep the venue clean and organized.
- Monitor the restroom supplies and cleanliness to keep them clean and organized when restroom attendants are not on duty.
- Maintain a professional appearance and perform the position duties in a professional manner.
- Complete any and all assigned cleaning duties, including stocking and organization.
- Perform all assigned side-work quickly and efficiently.
- Properly set up and break down stations before and after operating hours.
- Knowledge of Teamwork and Toast POS system.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language to interact with guests, the public and coworkers.
- Proficient verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and professionally deal with stressful situations during busy periods in a loud, busy, and crowded environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction and be able to manage guest behavior.
- Basic food handling requirements.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Must have knowledge of all required legal documents, i.e., A.B.C., Health Department, Police, City, Etc.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a fast-paced restaurant/bar.
- Must be at least 18 to meet minimum age requirement of the State of Tennessee to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Unarmed Security Officer required.
- Dallas' Law certification required.
- Door hosts should be in overall good physical shape because of the position’s physical requirements. There are no height or weight requirements.
- All employees must wear the proper uniform and maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance in accordance with the Company’s grooming standards.
