Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented OSP (Outside Plant) Permitter to join our fiber construction team. This role is critical in bridging the gap between field data and official city/utility approvals. You will be responsible for translating field measurements into precise CAD drawings and navigating the regulatory landscape to secure the necessary permits for our high-speed fiber deployments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Design & Drafting:
Use AutoCAD to create detailed permit drawings, including plan and profile views of intersections, existing utilities, and proposed fiber routes. - Data Integration:
Take raw field measurements and survey data to accurately plot distances and infrastructure onto digital maps. - GIS Mapping:
Utilize ArcGIS/ESRI platforms to manage spatial data and ensure project alignment with existing utility grids. - Permit Lifecycle Management:
Prepare, submit, and track permit applications through various agencies (City, County, DOT, and private utilities). - Quality Control:
Ensure all drawings meet both customer specifications and the strict standards of local permitting jurisdictions. - Collaboration:
Coordinate with field technicians and project managers to resolve any design conflicts discovered during the permitting process.
Skills and Abilities
- Technical Proficiency:
AutoCAD (Mandatory):
Advanced ability to create technical drawings from scratch. - GIS Software:
Experience with ArcGIS, ESRI, or similar spatial mapping tools. - Microsoft Office:
Proficient in Excel (for tracking) and Outlook (for agency communication). - Regulatory Knowledge:
Familiarity with Right-of-Way (ROW) requirements and utility franchise agreements. - Precision-Focused:
You understand that a 1-foot discrepancy on a map can stall a multi-million dollar construction project. - Resourceful:
You know how to find answers when a municipality's requirements are vague or outdated. - Deadline-Driven:
You thrive in an environment where timely submissions are key to keeping construction crews moving.
- Minimum of 2 years specifically in Utilities Permitting (Fiber, Power, Gas, or Water).
- Mapping Accuracy:
Proven ability to interpret field notes and translate measurements into scaled, professional map sets.
$48,000 - $62,500 a year
