What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is seeking a motivated Roadway Engineering Associate to join our team in Nashville, TN. In this position, you will play a key role in delivering impactful infrastructure solutions that benefit the communities we serve, including engaging work on a variety of roadway design projects.
You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of smaller projects while also contributing to larger, more complex initiatives under the guidance of senior engineers. Responsibilities:- Assist in the design of a variety of roadway project types including urban streets, rural highways, bridge replacements, sidewalks and greenways, interchanges, intersections and roundabouts
- Collaborate with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to resolve issues and develop effective solutions
- Assist in the analysis and preparation of reports, specifications, plans, and permits for projects.
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to prepare engineering and design documents/drawings
- Accompany design team on site visits and client meetings as needed.
- Learn and apply TN Department of Transportation (TDOT) guidelines, policies, and procedures
- Ensure tasks are completed promptly and meet quality expectations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of roadway design experience.
- Engineer Intern (EI) / Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification required.
- Experience using Bentley Open Roads Designer (ORD) software preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly WORD and EXCEL.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are important.
- Working knowledge of utilizing AASHTO and MUTCD roadway design materials
