Senior Estimator - Mas Tec Civil is hiring a Senior Estimator to assist in the growth of the Nashville, TN infrastructure market!

LOCATION: Remote/hybrid position within the state of Tennessee.

This individual should have a minimum of 10 years of estimating experience and a minimum of 3 years of field experience in Heavy Civil Construction, specifically in roadway work such as earth movement, drainage, clearing & grubbing, grading, roadway bases, channel excavation, retaining walls, water main, force main, etc. The candidate should be knowledgeable in contract delivery methods: design‑build, design‑bid‑build, Lump Sum, etc.,

and have contract experience with Tennessee DOT/turnpike, cities/counties, and airport authorities. This candidate must be a self‑motivated person, willing to collaborate with peers, mentor young engineers, and constantly strive to identify problems and solutions.

Mas Tec’s Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group (CE&I) is a $4 billion annual revenue business unit that provides construction services for industrial facilities, building products manufacturers, power generation facilities, manufacturing plants, solar, wind, and thermal energy plants, buildings, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Understand bid items, basis of estimate, and identify errors and discrepancies in plans, specifications, and proposals.
  • Read plans, specifications, RFPs, RFIs, addenda, technical special provisions, etc.
  • Create green sheet estimate, build activity structure, construction schedule, and risk matrix analysis.
  • Create job budget for awarded contracts.
  • Develop bid strategy, cost savings initiatives, and management skills.
  • Perform accurate, timely quantity takeoffs.
  • Capable of estimating an entire job individually.
  • Analyze estimating reports: equipment total hours, labor productivity rates, key indicators, equipment balance analysis.
  • Constantly review updated TNDOT Standards and Specifications.
  • Lead review of bid submittal package and lead estimating discussion with company executives.
  • Obtain clarifications on plans and specifications from owners or engineers of record.
  • Coordinate and invite suppliers and subcontractors to quote work scopes.
  • Analyze suppliers and subcontractor pricing.
  • Build and strengthen subcontractor and supplier relationships.
  • Complete understanding of unit cost analyses.
  • Assist in pre‑bid meeting and bid submittals.
  • Keep information on commodity trade prices updated.
  • Track construction technologies and techniques.
  • Maintain continuing education in construction: attend engineering conventions, forums, etc.
  • Communicate with field personnel to track and adjust unit costs.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Heavy Civil—with preference for roadway/highway/bridge experience.
  • Strong preference for candidates located in Nashville, Tennessee.
  • B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management.

  • Knowledge in bridge and roadway construction.
  • Familiarity with Nashville soil (rock/clay), foundations, concrete structures, temporary structural systems, underground and utility work, earthwork, signalization, roadway lighting and signing, intelligent transportation systems, safety standards.
  • Knowledgeable in design‑build and design‑bid‑build contracts with TNDOT and Turnpike Enterprises.
  • Teaching and mentoring skills.
