What We're Looking For:
We are seeking a motivated Project Scientist I to join our Environmental team! This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career professional who enjoys hands‑on field work, data analysis, and collaborating with experienced environmental consultants. The Project Scientist I works closely with project managers and senior staff to execute work plans, collect and analyze environmental data, document field observations, and support project deliverables.
This role includes frequent field work in various environmental settings and provides exposure to technical reporting, regulatory compliance, and environmental consulting best practices.
- Performs field work as directed and assists in sample and data collection from various sources in the field.
- Assists with data verification documenting observations from sources identified in the scope of work.
- Assists with tabulating and analyzing data, and preparing reports, figures, health and safety plans, and sampling logs, as needed.
- Develops basic conclusions from observations of data and collected samples.
- Coordinates and executes portions of field work associated with approved scope of work.
- Provides consistent and appropriate communication to Supervisor and/or Project Manager as it relates to field work and deliverables.
- Assists in writing portions of technical reports and provides basic recommendations based on conclusions reached from findings.
- Organizes and orders field equipment / testing supplies for various laboratory samples.
- Performs other duties as requested.
- Bachelor's degree from accredited program (Geology, Environmental Science, Civil/Environmental Engineering, etc.)
- 0‑2 years of experience in Environmental Consulting
- Timeliness & quality of work and budget adherence.
- Utilization rates align with goal.
- Execute work in compliance with defined practices reflected in our Health & Safety Manual.
- Walk, sit, and stand. Occasionally reach with hands, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Occasionally climb 25‑30 feet. Occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
- Frequently works in outdoor conditions requiring ability to walk or climb uneven terrain consisting of various changing vegetation, material, and incline on construction sites.
- Visual acuity sufficient to read alpha/numeric symbols for computation and design.
- Ability to adapt quickly and respond effectively to project issues that arise.
- Requires some travel.
