Arcadis is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineering Project Manager with experience in traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems and traffic operations and design to join our Nashville, TN team. Candidates local to Nashville, TN preferred. Hybrid work model with ability to travel to office and attend internal and external client meetings in person as needed.

This role will sit within the larger Global Mobility Business Area. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities
  • Assist our growing traffic engineering group in Tennessee in the preparation of engineering reports, studies and analyses across a wide range of areas including traffic operations, safety, travel demand modeling and transportation planning projects.
  • Work efficiently and effectively to complete tasks within the required project schedule and budget.
  • Lead tasks and projects on your own and mentor younger staff.
  • Conduct traffic operational analysis using microscopic simulation software such as VISSIM, Synchro, Sim Traffic.
  • Analyze traffic signal operation on arterials and networks, specify applicable data collection, develop new signal timing parameters based on detailed analysis, input traffic signal plans via central control systems and/or directly into local controllers, and design and analyze traffic surveys to evaluate signal timing effectiveness.
  • Prepare traffic engineering plans for signal designs, signing and markings designs, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) designs.
  • Perform operational analysis using microscopic simulation for intersections, corridors, and interchange traffic.
  • Assist in developing ICM and ATM operations and maintenance policies, procedures and manuals.
  • Assist in the implementation of ICM and ATM operations and maintenance policies.
Key Skills / Attributes
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: TDOT design standards, ITS design, Traffic Operations Studies, and Safety Studies.
  • Basic understanding of the use of traffic analysis tools (e.g., VISSIM, CORSIM, Synchro/Sim Traffic, and HCS).
  • Experience / familiarity with Microstation, Synchro, VISSIM and/or Sidra.
  • Basic understanding of the application of traffic operations principles including ITE, MUTCD, AASHTO, and state DOT requirements, policies, manuals and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in groups as well as independently.
  • Traffic Signal Field Operations / Implementation experience.
Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications
  • 7 or more years of transportation or traffic engineering experience post‑graduation.
  • B.S. in Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
  • U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Tennessee PE.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • PTOE certification.
  • TDOT or local TN project experience.
  • Experience using Microstation, ArcGIS and Synchro/Sim Traffic.
  • Understanding and familiarity with MUTCD and DOT Design Guidelines and Standards (Nashville DOT and Tennessee DOT).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Transportation Design Experience with Micro Station.
