Operations Engineer, Sub-Same Day Field Engineering – Services LLC. Amazon created one of the most sophisticated supply chains in the world and continues to drive change through advanced technology and innovative operations. We are seeking an innovative and solutions-oriented Operations Engineer to contribute to the development and delivery of next‑generation world-class fulfillment systems. Successful candidates are self-starters with engineering experience in the integrated automation project life cycle, including development, design, implementation, enhancement, and support.
As an Operations Engineer for Amazon Fulfillment, you will work with top engineers to design, develop, and deliver physical distribution systems globally. You will lead cross-functional initiatives or programs focused on creating new systems, altering existing ones, and managing end-of-life material handling and technology systems. You will take a lead role in implementing and delivering large system designs and advanced technology in ambiguous and complex problem spaces, integrating systems for safety, security, stability, and efficiency.
You will participate in the full system development life cycle, including test plan execution and solution quality considerations. Open to candidates in a variety of locations.

Key responsibilities- Lead and manage the lifecycle of complex cross-functional projects with substantial impact, spanning organizations or geographies to achieve a business objective.
- Define projects (scope, delivery, budget), set objectives, analyze data, drive metric improvements, and influence resource allocation.
- Define systems within your project space, including limitations, performance factors, boundary conditions, and rationale behind design decisions.
- Develop deep technical solutions encompassing advanced technology applications, conveyor hardware selection, material handling integration, and vendor commissioning expectations.
- Lead and coordinate design and execution between internal teams and external vendors, including equipment specifications, material flow, process design, and site layout.
- Participate in design reviews and communicate future impacts of proposed solutions on individual systems, overall architecture, and facility processes.
- Develop and manage budgets and contract documents, including RFPs, change orders, purchase orders, and invoicing.
- Build strong working relationships with SSD Fulfillment Center leadership and operations teams across multiple sites and with Launch, Facilities, Finance, Safety, Process Engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to support operations within a geographic node.
- Develop cross-functional knowledge of Operations and Engineering systems, processes, procedures, and tools.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions in short time frames.
- Travel up to 60% within North America, potentially including three weeks of consecutive travel with weekends included.
- 5+ years of experience as an industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience managing cross-functional projects and initiatives.
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at an intermediate level.
- Experience working with and managing third-party vendors.
- Experience with Six Sigma and lean manufacturing.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
