Design Engineer - Automated Assembly Systems Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to support the development of complex automated assembly systems. This role is focused on hands-on mechanical design execution, owning equipment designs from concept through detailed development. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced project environment, works independently with minimal oversight, and collaborates closely with Project Engineers during structured design reviews.

• Perform complex mechanical design for custom automated assembly equipment using Solid Works and Windchill
• Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard and advanced engineering principles to solve complex design challenges
• Adapt or modify established design methods for non-routine or highly technical assignments
• Own assigned equipment designs from initial layouts through detailed component and assembly development
• Participate in formal design reviews with Project Engineers; incorporate feedback and respond constructively to critique
• Ensure designs meet requirements for accuracy, manufacturability, safety, and overall system performance
• Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, controls, and systems teams to support full system integration
• Apply strong technical judgment and design rigor without assuming project management or people leadership responsibilities

• 6+ years of experience designing automated assembly or custom automation systems
• Advanced proficiency in Solid Works (required); experience with Windchill preferred
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, automation concepts, component selection, and system-level design
• Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction
• Demonstrated success delivering accurate, complete mechanical designs under tight timelines
