Civil Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to support the design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure and structural systems within our metal recycling operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with industrial site layouts, foundations, steel structures, and utility systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, field coordination, and the ability to manage multiple projects in active plant environments. Experience working with point cloud data and 3D scanning is highly desirable for accurately capturing existing site conditions and integrating them into design and construction workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Design and analyze structural components for equipment supports, platforms, conveyors, and processing facilities.
• Develop civil site plans including grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utilities.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications for foundations, retaining walls, and steel framing.
• Conduct field assessments, including point cloud and survey data analysis, to verify existing conditions and ensure structural integrity of plant infrastructure.
• Coordinate with project managers, CAD designers, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely and accurate project execution.
• Oversee construction activities, ensuring compliance with design standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Provide engineering support for equipment installations, expansions, and maintenance projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on site development, permitting, and facility improvement projects.
• Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and construction documentation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (PE license preferred).
• 10+ years of engineering experience in industrial, heavy manufacturing, or metal recycling environments.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD, RISA, or similar).
• Experience working with point cloud data, LiDAR scans, or 3D scanning workflows to support site modeling and design.
• Strong understanding of steel design, concrete design, and construction materials.
• Experience with site grading, drainage design, and stormwater management systems.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform site visits and manage multiple projects in active industrial settings.
