Position:
Data Center Infrastructure Engineer II (multiple positions available)

Location:

Columbus, OH

Responsibilities
  • Driving improvement of acoustic design standards and retrofit projects across leased/owned AWS data centers.
  • Initiate and lead acoustic audits including on‑site visits; produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations.
  • Support training programs.
  • Perform field visits to review equipment specifications, deploy sound‑monitoring equipment, and collect sound data.
  • Utilize environmental noise prediction and mitigation design software for modeling complex acoustic scenarios and generate detailed sound propagation analysis.
  • Provide high‑quality acoustic engineering advice on a wide variety of retrofit projects globally while working with global field engineering teams to achieve alignment of project objectives.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis (RCA) and create corrective action (CA) documentation for acoustic issues.
  • Own design solutions for acoustic retrofit projects; review all design disciplines to ensure they meet site acoustic requirements described in the design standard.
  • Work with third‑party design vendors to review conceptual designs and in‑progress retrofit designs to ensure they meet established acoustic design standards, local code requirements, and any other requirements of the authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Coordinate acoustical mitigation requirements, supporting utilities, and equipment locations, and provide detailed construction specifications for all sound‑and‑acoustics‑related trades.
  • Be responsible for code compliance, design and installation standards, testing, inspections, and submittal review; meet with AHJs as needed to ensure approval of acoustical features.
  • Build trust and relationships with stakeholders such as operations, controls, construction, design, commissioning, product managers, and technical program managers.
  • Develop innovative solutions for AWS’s data centers.
Qualifications

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, civil engineering, or a related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • 3 years of experience in industrial, municipal, or commercial engineering, including but not limited to data centers, power generation, oil/gas facilities.
  • Valid US driver’s license and reliable personal transportation by start date.
