Job Description
Our client seeks a
mid-to-senior level Structural Engineer (PE)to join their Nashville team. This role focuses on forensic engineering, investigating building system failures, and producing expert technical reports.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform field inspections to evaluate structural damage and as-built conditions.
- Investigate failures caused by natural disasters (wind, water, fire, earthquakes) or human error (design flaws, construction defects).
- Apply building codes and engineering expertise to determine causes and recommend repairs.
- Review engineering drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Prepare clear, detailed technical reports and communicate findings to clients.
- Support litigation with expert testimony when required.
- Manage multiple projects efficiently, on time and within budget.
- Travel occasionally on short notice.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering (ABET accredited).
- 10+ years of experience in structural engineering.
- Active PE license (Tennessee or ability to obtain quickly; multiple licenses a plus).
- Knowledge of codes including ICC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, NDS.
- Experience with a variety of building systems (steel, concrete, wood, masonry, envelopes).
- Strong report writing and client communication skills.
- Forensic/litigation experience preferred.
- Valid U.S. work authorization and drivers license.
