You will design standards-aligned, data-informed lessons; integrate a biblical worldview across disciplines; and mentor students in character and service. In partnership with families and colleagues, you'll maintain an orderly, supportive classroom where every learner is known and challenged. We prepare students for purposeful lives through rigorous academics and spiritual formation-and we seek educators who model Christ-like professionalism and joy in their calling.
The Opportunity
We're seeking a passionate Middle School English Teacher who loves literature, writing, and mentoring young adolescents. You will inspire students to read deeply, write powerfully, speak confidently, and integrate a Christian worldview as they explore classic and contemporary texts.
What You'll Do
* Teach middle school English (ELA) courses (grade level and/or Honors sections).
* Design engaging, standards-aligned units that develop close reading, rhetoric, composition, and research skills.
* Use workshop routines, Socratic seminars, and inquiry-based discussions to build voice and agency.
* Provide timely, actionable feedback on writing through drafting, conferencing, and revision cycles.
* Differentiate instruction for diverse learners and collaborate on supports,
* Integrate purposeful technology (e.g., Schoology) to enhance literacy and collaboration,
* Contribute to school culture through connect (advisory), clubs, events, and service-learning.
* Partner with colleagues on vertical alignment, common assessments, and data-informed instruction.
* Model Christ-like character and intentionally integrate faith with learning by embedding Biblical concepts into lessons.
What You Bring
* As a Christian independent school affiliated with the Churches of Christ, Lipscomb Academy seeks faculty who can support and model the school's mission and values. Candidates should be willing to participate in spiritual life activities and mentor students in faith and character.
* Bachelor's degree in English, English Education, or related field.
* Valid Tennessee secondary ELA teaching license (or eligibility within a defined timeline).
* Demonstrated success in improving student writing and reading outcomes in grades 6-8. Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
* Skill in teaching narrative, expository, argument/persuasive and descriptive writing with clear rubrics and exemplars.
* Capacity for being trained on various school platforms (i.e. Schoology); and formative assessment tools.
