Adjunct Instructor in Cinematic Arts
Department of Film – Lipscomb University
The Department of Film at Lipscomb University invites applications for an adjunct instructor to teach undergraduate courses in Film Production and Screenwriting. Primary teaching responsibilities may include courses in film production, screenwriting, film acting, capstone projects, and Volume Wall production courses. Additional teaching assignments will be determined based on departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise, with priority given to candidates with strengths in On Set Film and Volume Wall Production.
The successful candidate will represent the School of Cinematic Arts in matters related to curriculum development, academic standards, and accreditation. They will also mentor students at University sponsored events as well as student project film shoots as part of a portfolio-based certification process, providing guidance and feedback as students prepare for professional careers.
Program Overview:
The Film program is part of the College of Entertainment & the Arts, alongside the departments of Visual Art, Theatre, Film, Fashion, and Music. Now in its second decade, the program has experienced record growth and increasing interest. We offer B.A. and B.F.A. degrees in Film through a robust curriculum led by a team of committed, industry-experienced faculty.
Qualifications:
- Terminal degree preferred (MFA or MA in a related field)
- A minimum of 10 years of professional industry experience may be considered in lieu of a terminal degree
- Depending on the class being taught, proficiency may be required in Final Draft, Hollywood Standard Screenwriting format, Digital Film Cameras, Lighting Equipment, Volume Wall-related software and Davinci/Adobe Creative Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor undergraduate students in a collaborative academic environment
