Are you a passionate English educator eager to inspire the next generation of critical thinkers, storytellers, and changemakers? We are seeking an innovative, resilient, and driven educator to join our team as a Middle School English Teacher for the school year at Nashville Prep.
What You’ll Do- Develop and deliver engaging, inquiry-based English Language Arts and Social Studies lessons that foster deep reading, analytical writing, and critical thinking.
- Use data-driven instruction to monitor scholar progress and adjust teaching strategies to ensure mastery of literacy and historical analysis skills.
- Cultivate a love for reading, writing, and historical exploration while empowering scholars to engage with diverse perspectives.
- Partner with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects that connect literature, history, and current events.
- Participate in weekly professional development, embracing constructive feedback to continuously refine your teaching craft.
- Share best practices and resources with colleagues to foster a school-wide culture of academic rigor and intellectual curiosity.
- Use primary sources, literature, and culturally relevant materials to make learning engaging and meaningful.
- Incorporate discussion-based learning, Socratic seminars, and project-based assessments to deepen scholar engagement.
- Stay informed on educational best practices and emerging literacy and social studies instructional strategies.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive school environment.
- Communicate frequently with families regarding scholar progress, fostering a partnership in their child’s success.
- Encourage scholars to explore debate, journalism, creative writing, and history-based extracurricular opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- Preferred:
Teaching certification in English, History, Social Studies, or a related field, or enrollment in a state-accredited Alternative Certification Program by the start of employment. - Strong content knowledge in English disciplines, with experience in discussion-based learning and literacy development.
- Preferred:
Previous experience teaching ELA, Social Studies, or interdisciplinary English courses, particularly in underserved communities.
